The Braun ThermoScan 7 is an ear thermometer that uses Age Precision technology to adjust fever guidance according to the user's age. To use the thermometer, first remove it from the protective cover and press the power button. A flashing indicator shows that a new hygiene cap is needed; attach it by pushing the thermometer probe straight into a cap and then pulling it out.

To measure the temperature, first select the age with the Age Precision button, which lets you scroll through the different age groups. To take a measurement, fit the probe snugly into the ear canal and aim towards the opposite temple. ExacTemp technology confirms the stability and position of the probe with a light and a beep. Press and release the start button; the light pulses while the temperature is being measured and stays lit for three seconds to indicate a successful measurement. A beep confirms that the measurement is complete.

For the next measurement, press the ejector button to remove and discard the used hygiene cap. The thermometer switches off automatically after 60 seconds of inactivity, but can also be switched off manually. It has a memory that stores the last nine readings.

The Braun ThermoScan 7 has a patented pre-warmed tip to ensure high accuracy and ExacTemp technology that confirms correct positioning. The thermometer comes with two AA Duracell batteries, a storage case and 21 hygienic lens filters. The night light function makes measurements in the dark easier.
